Below, fellow students quickly position a ladder against the building. With no other clear route to safety, he carefully climbs down, followed by others who had been trapped inside.

The video has drawn widespread reactions across social media, with many viewers praising the students’ quick thinking and teamwork. Others have expressed concern about the state of safety measures in off campus hostels and student accommodations across the country.

Thankfully, no fatalities have been reported from the incident. However, the episode has reignited conversations about fire preparedness, building standards, and emergency exits in student housing.

Many Nigerians are calling on school authorities, landlords, and relevant agencies to prioritize safety checks and provide basic firefighting equipment in such buildings.
